Published in 2012, "Postcards from Bellingham" traced the life of Walter Percy Collier from his arrival in Bellingham about 1912 until his death in 1937.  This book examines the influence of his two brothers- in-law, Harry Ord Thompson, who inspired him to take up photography, and John Samuel Hart, who worked with him in his first photography business in Great Crosby, Lancashire.

Harry Ord Thompson served his apprenticeship as a photographer with Frederick William Morgan (1859-1932) of Durahm and then became a photographer's assistant to Matthew Auty (1850-1895) of Tynemouth, whose death on 29th July 1895 deprived rhe North of England of a talented and innovative photographer of people and places.

Interrupted only by military service in the Great War, the brothers-in-law created a definitive portrait of Northumberland in the years immediately preceding and following the First World War.
