The Cheviots are wonderful walking country, with their rolling hills and wide, sweeping views on both sides of the Border.
And they offer more than that. Wherever you go there are traces of past human activity: Iron Age settlements, Roman camps, medieval ploughing and abandoned farms.
This guide, a companion volume to The Old Tracks through the Cheviots, is designed to help people visit and understand these remains. It contains a set of carefully planned and fully documented walks in both England and Scotland that help the visitor and walker see some of the most interesting archaeological sites in the Cheviots.
